East Port of Spain Residents Graduate with New Skills
Today, several communities of East Port of Spain rejoiced as seventy (70) students graduated from the ‘2017 Education to Production and Creating the Beats Programme’ facilitated by the East Port of Spain Development Company Limited (EPOS), an agency of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development. The ceremony, which took place at the UTT Academy for the Performing Arts North Campus, recognised the efforts of persons who completed programmes in seven programmes, namely carpentry, electrical, heavy equipment operations, masonry, plumbing, welding, and the creation of musical beats.
Special prizes were also awarded to persons with the highest scores for attendance; reflecting the commitment to their development. Among the winners were:

- Oba Peters- Electrical
- Gemma Best- Heavy Equipment Operations
- Nathan Billy- Heavy Equipment Operations
- Nicholas Babb- Masonry
- Nathaniel Applewhite- Plumbing
- Jabari Hernandez- Welding
The graduates also had the opportunity to listen to several inspirational speeches from the Managing Director of East Port of Spain Development Company Limited, Dr. Deborah Thomas Austin; Mr. Kenny Phillips, manager and owner of Wack Radio and Aspire TV; Mr. John Cardenas, General Manager of the Trinidad and Tobago Contractors Association, and Lisa Joseph, Business Development Manager of the National Energy Skills Centre (NESC).
Also in attendance were Member of Parliament for Laventille East/Morvant, Adrian Leonce; Simone Thorne-Mora, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Chairman, East Port of Spain Development Company, Newman George and representatives of the University of Trinidad and Tobago and the MIC institute of Technology.
