HDC distributes 159 allocation packages for housing units to recipients in East, Central and South Trinidad
On February 12, the HDC distributed a total of one hundred and fifty-nine (159) allocation packages to deserving families under government’s first ever Public Private Partnership (PPP) Project. The ceremony which took place at Mahogany Court, Mt Hope saw seventy- three (73) allocation packages for recipients of Mahogany Court, and another eighty-six (86) for recipients of Carlsen Field, Riverside North and South, Trestrail, Malabar, Eden Garden, Freeport, Cypress Hills, San Fernando and Bon Air.
In his remarks, Major General (Ret’d) Edmund Dillon said, “I wish to take this opportunity to thank all our investors, developers, and small and medium contractors who have shown their interest by coming forward and offering to partner with us, to provide affordable and accessible housing solutions for low to lower-middle income families. He added, “As I do at every housing distribution event, I urge you, our prospective homeowners to honour your financial commitments to TTMF, other financial institutions and the HDC. This guarantees you security of tenure and the opportunity to create a wealth asset.”
Currently, another PPP development at Bamboo Creek Villas, Cunupia will also provide two hundred and one (201) townhouses and single-family units. In addition to this, other Public Private Partnership Projects will include ninety-eight (98) townhouse units at Trestrail in D’Abadie, fifty-four (54) single family units at Riverside East in Corinth and seventy-two (72) single-family and townhouse units at Siparia Old Road, Fyzabad.
The HDC has over $1 Billion in Public Private Partnership Projects under construction where contracting firms providing their own finance, design, build arrangements. This will yield approximately six hundred and five (605) units for sale this year alone.
The goal of the Ministry is to ensure as far as possible that every family has the opportunity to lead decent, dignified and rewarding lives regardless of their locality or position in society.
